S-TEN Project: Intelligent Self-describing Technical and Environmental Networks
SemanticSTEP technology is way to link ISO 10303 (STEP) and Semantic Web. SemanticSTEP is a set of ontologies and derived Express schemas, which define the mapping between ISO 10303 (STEP) models and data and ontologies in the OWL/RDF world.

To successfully map STEP data to OWL/RDF, a specialized SemanticSTEP Express schema was needed - OwlRdfSchema. Based on this schema, models for the core parts of STEP standard were provided and OWL ontologies were derived from them. These derived Express schemas and ontologies are publicly available.

As parts of SemanticSTEP technology, various tools have been developed to link the worlds of Semantic Web and ISO 10303 (STEP).
The Semantic REST Database (SRDB) and SemanticSTEP Viewer allow storing the SemanticSTEP ontologies (named graphs) in a REST-based database and view the stored data. Moreover, various smaller tools and utilities together with conversion processes are available, which allow schema and data conversion between STEP and OWL/RDF.
